The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation awarded grants in excess of $94,000 in support of 37 programs that benefit children and families in the region on March 24, 2020.

Bill Follett has been a director on NESS's Board for two years. He recently retired as Founder and CEO of Dotcom Distribution, the premier distribution company he owns in Edison, New Jersey. Bill previously held positions as Chief Operating Officer at GoodTimes Entertainment, Ltd., and as Chief Executive Officer of a joint venture Stonington, CT – Dominion Foundation presented New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) with a $15,000 grant in August 2016. The grant will fund NESS's "Long Island Sound & Its Watershed" calendar drawing contest, community outreach, and awards ceremony for Connecticut students in grades K-6.
NESS, a 501(c)(3) ocean adventure nonprofit organization based in Stonington, CT, works with K-16 schools to teach STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) through sailing, marine science, and Westerly, RI – New England Science & Sailing (NESS) Foundation, the Westerly Recreation Department, and the Misquamicut Business Association will co-host the 14th Annual Misquamicut Beach Salt Pond Challenge on Tuesday, August 16 (rain date Monday, August 29) at 6:30pm at the Winnapaug Salt Pond. All proceeds from the one-mile swim will benefit Westerly schools' field trips to NESS and beach and pond area cleanups.
The start/finish line is located at the sandy beach area across from the state beach Riverfront Recapture and New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) will offer joint riverfront adventure programming beginning in the fall of 2016. The two nonprofit organizations announced the collaboration in June.
NESS, a nonprofit organization based in Stonington, CT, aligns their sailing, marine science, and ocean adventure programs with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) initiatives. In 2015, NESS worked with approximately 100 schools and organizations to serve more than 4,700 Stonington, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation presented New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) with a $500 check earlier this month. This is the third consecutive year that Chelsea Groton has awarded a grant to NESS to support their ocean adventure STEM education programs in New London, CT.
Since 2014, NESS has provided New London Public School students with opportunities to get out on the water and learn by doing. Last year, NESS served over 500 New London students. NESS SEA (STEM Education Stonington, CT – Spike Lobdell, founder and president of New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS), will receive the National Recreation Foundation's 2016 Robert W. Crawford Achievement Prize in recognition of his service to the youth of New England. Spike will be formally presented with the award on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at a ceremony at Hotel Emma in San Antonio, Texas.
Spike founded NESS in 2004, and since 2008, has been the President and CEO. Dockside walk aboard tours of the boat will be available from Stonington, CT – On Wednesday, June 15, New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) will unveil their new Sailing Center at its Stonington, CT, location. The Sailing Center previously served as one of NESS's teaching facilities and at one point was the Garbo Lobster and Mohegan Tribe aqua-culture facility.
